Freight between Denmark and Sweden

Our ferries sail with freight transport (through trucks) between Denmark and Sweden 24 hours a day. During business hours we sail every 15 minutes Tuesday-Thursday and every 20 minutes Friday-Monday.

Transport your cargo the shortest and greenest way across the sound. Drivers and truck drivers daily use the crossing as a quick and easy way to cross the sound between Helsingborg and Helsingør.

There is always a departure to choose, and the break on the ferry saves both time and shortens the driving range.

New freightwebbookingportal!

On April 1, 2025, Öresundslinjen updated to a new web portal for freight bookings. In order to be able to book via this portal, you must have an agreement customer number and be registered as a user on the new portal.

All email addresses that previously received booking confirmations from our old freight web booking have been created as users in the new portal. During week 13, 2025, these email addresses received an email with information on how to activate your new profile on the new freight web booking portal.

If you would like more users for the new freight web booking portal, please send an email to freight@oresundslinjen.com. The email must contain the customer number to which the user should be linked, the name of the user and the user's email address.

We offer all freight agreement customers the opportunity to pre-book their crossing with us. Pre-book, and check in without leaving your truck. Drive quickly through our Fast Lanes and board the next available ferry.

If you haven’t pre-booked, you must park your truck and use one of the self-service machines in our check-in offices where you can insert your information The check-in guide in the machines is available in 16 different languages. If you want to check in with personal service, the check-in offices are staffed 24/7.

We are now ORESUNDSLINJEN

As you may have noticed we have changed out name to ORESUNDSLINJEN. If you are used to transport freight with us, you are getting the same product and same staff as usual.

Our new name will in time be implemented, and we will inform if there is any affect related to freight.

No CO2 tax in 2024 on ORESUNDSLINJEN

ETS - Emissions Trading System - will be introduced by EU in the shipping industry in 2024. The purpose is to accelerate shipping companies' investment in green alternatives to conventional ship and ferry propulsion.

Most of our crossings already operate on battery power with green electricity, which means that since we already have made a significant portion of the investment, ORESUNDSLINJEN will only be affected in lessor extent in 2024.

We have therefore chosen to remove the ETS tax from our freight customers, on all crossings in 2024.

Remember, you can always get it the information about your CO2-emissions regarding the number of freight crossings you have with us.

New pricestructure on ORESUNDSLINJEN - cheaper transportation of road trains

Trucks are getting longer and longer. This is a fact that ORESUNDSLINJEN must act on. Goods transported through road trains is less harmful to the climate and it can even be transported on battery power with ORESUNDSLINJEN - often with a significantly shorter driving distance.

Road trains have since the beginning of the experimental scheme in Denmark been a transportation option on ORESUNDSLINJEN.

From January 1st 2024 all road trains will be transferred at the same sea fright rate as a normal tractor-trailer up to a maximum length of 17 meters. The unit price will apply to all trucks ranging from 16 to 25.25 meters.

Even better opportunities for transport of dangerous goods

Our freight ferry, Mercandia IV, that operates during daytime on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays carries many toxicities and only with a limit of passengers.

This means that it is not necessary to wait on the night crossing

In practice, this means that it's not necessary to wait for the dedicated nighttime sailing on our passenger ferry for many hazard classes that require passenger restrictions.

Furthermore, we will now transport dangerous goods of class 2.2, packing group D, with our freight ferry. This includes liquid and compressed gases. A combination of new risk assessment and changed conditions now makes it possible.

Conditions of Carriage

ORESUNDSLINJEN reserves the right to adjust its prices to take account of exchange rates and other costs that are beyond our control. ORESUNDSLINJEN is entitled to annul any agreement with immediate effect in the event of default of payment. Collateral agreements shall have no legal validity.

The transportation of cargo units on the ORESUNDSLINJEN route and vessels, including all agreements, are subject to the terms and conditions in the North Sea Operators Conditions of Carriage, as last amended, including the NSOCC Yellow Card (4th edition) 1999 and NSOCC Blue Card (5th edition) 1999.

If a vehicle has an engine stop or other fault that means that the vehicle cannot drive off board or move away, ORESUNDSLINJEN has the right to immediately arrange towing of the vehicle, either by the ORESUNDSLINJEN own means or through a third party, to an area which ORESUNDSLINJEN at its own discretion deems appropriate. This applies regardless of whether the vehicle is on board one of the ferries or ashore in any part of the areas where ORESUNDSLINJEN operates. The cost of such towing is borne by the customer of ORESUNDSLINJEN.
